Yooperlite, also known as "Sodalite-Syenite," is best known for its fluorescent properties under UV light, glowing vibrant orange.

Yooperlite forms through the cooling and solidification of igneous rock containing sodalite, which gives it its unique fluorescence. Over time, geological processes like erosion and glacial movement expose and transport these rocks to new locations.

Yooperlite's structure is composed of a fine-grained syenite matrix infused with sodalite minerals.

Yooperlite is commonly found along the shores of Lake Superior, particularly in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
